Episode Details

Bestselling author E. Lockhart is releasing a brand-new young adult novel titled The Pools, which is scheduled to hit bookstores on October 6 through Delacorte Press. Although this upcoming publication takes place outside of her famous We Were Liars narrative universe, it explores comparable motifs centered on grief, privilege, and social identity. The plot focuses on a newcomer named Lexie and a local resident named Chester who form a powerful romantic bond in a New England spa town known for its geothermal springs. Their lives, along with those of the surrounding community, are upended after a freezing winter morning when five individuals enter the dangerous waters. Ultimately, the book operates as an intense romance that captures the high stakes of youthful emotion and personal independence.
