In this episode of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Podcast, Tony Murrell sits down with Jay Morgan Hyrons, an author, public speaker, grief counsellor and champion bodybuilder.

Jay’s life has been shaped by profound loss, trauma and experiences that have had a lasting impact on her.

In 1982, Jay became a Falklands War widow when her husband, Lance Corporal Gary Bingley of the Parachute Regiment, was killed in action.

Jay opens up about losing her husband, what it was like being a military wife and the grief and PTSD that followed.

She also talks about growing up with ADHD, suffering with anorexia as a teenager, her experiences fighting the NHS and the challenges she has faced throughout her life.

We discuss how Jay rebuilt her life, her career as a counsellor, becoming a competitive bodybuilder and how fitness became an important part of dealing with emotional trauma.

Jay also talks about her books, including The Falklands Widow, which explores her experiences of grief, eating disorders and addiction, and The Falklands Fallen, her extensive research into those who lost their lives during the Falklands War.

It’s an honest conversation about love, loss, grief, trauma, PTSD, addiction, fitness and finding the strength to keep moving forward.
