Welcome to this series which invites us into learning a broader meaning for the Ten Commandments based on what we read throughout scripture. The meanings come from Martin Luther's Small Catechism. Each video also offers an opportunity to use the Ten Commandments in prayer and as a way of confessing where we've messed up and need forgiveness. A new video and podcast will be released each week. What is this? The Third Commandment: Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. What is this? We are to fear and love God, so that we do not despise preaching or God’s Word, but instead keep that Word holy and gladly hear and learn it. Praying the Third Commandment God, thank you so much that you want us to have times of rest and time in your word. We have so many things that need our attention or that try to claim our attention and time. We can feel overwhelmed. Help us to make time for rest and time for worship, for listening for you and for hearing your word so that your word and your Holy Spirit are what shapes us. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
