The Sirloin Stockade Massacre: Oklahoma’s Night of Terror
Description
This week on All the Damn Crime, we're going back to Oklahoma in 1978 for one of the state's most infamous murder cases: the Sirloin Stockade murders.
Roger Dale Stafford, his wife Verna, and his brother Harold robbed a Sirloin Stockade in Oklahoma City and murdered six employees as the restaurant was closing for the night. But that wasn't the beginning of the story. Just weeks earlier, the Lorenz family had been murdered after stopping to help a stranded motorist on Interstate 35.
Nine people were dead. And for months, investigators didn't know the two crimes were connected.
We break down what happened, how investigators finally connected the cases, the Stafford family, and the evidence that brought the killers to justice. And we'll talk about the case's renewed attention in 2026 after Verna Stafford, the last surviving perpetrator, sought parole.
This is one of those Oklahoma cases that sounds almost unbelievable—until you realize it actually happened.
