Episode Details

On Episode #25 of the Retro Wrestling Re-View Power Pro Wrestling Podcast, Gene Jackson, Robb Helt, and Brian Tramel head back to October 3, 1998, for one of the biggest Power Pro shows yet with Sid Vicious, Road Warrior Hawk, Bart Gunn, Giant Silva, Jerry Lawler, Randy Hales, Brandon Baxter, Bill Dundee, Dr. Tom Prichard, and a loaded Mid-South Coliseum card all in the mix.

This week feels different right from the start.

Randy Hales arrives in a limo with Billy Joe Travis, Giant Silva, and Dr. Tom Prichard. Silva is presented as the giant weapon Randy plans to unleash on Lawler’s side, while Dr. Tom brings instant credibility just by standing next to him.

Then Road Warrior Hawk shows up.

And not the version most fans remember.

No face paint.

A full head of hair.

And at one point, he drops the Road Warrior voice and starts talking in a much more natural, almost normal tone about the hard times he has been through.

That alone stops Gene, Robb, and BT in their tracks.

It’s weird.

It’s fascinating.

And it’s absolutely one of the most memorable parts of the episode.

Hawk explains that Animal won’t be there, so he’s going to need another partner.

That partner?

Bart Gunn.

Meanwhile, Sid Vicious continues building his own army while trying to gain entrance into the studio. (should have mailed in for free tickets)

Another big part of the show is the build to the Young Guns Championship ladder match between Kid Wikkid and Derrick King.

Power Pro goes big this week hoping to draw a big house for “Settle the Score” that same night at the Mid-South Coliseum.

Sid is here.

Hawk is here.

Bart Gunn is here.

Giant Silva is here.

So how did it all turn it out? Did the show draw? Who won the battle royal where the prize was getting to be Jerry Lawler’s tag team partner against Hawk & Gunn?

Check out the show and have some fun with us while finding out!
