AI safety pressure rises
We'll start with the broad safety picture. In a new development in the story we've been following, the U.S. administration has announced a voluntary AI safety accord with several of the biggest names in the industry, including Nvidia, SpaceX, OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta and Google. The key point is that it asks companies to strengthen internal security and work with outside auditors, but it does not appear to include penalties for failing to comply. So the signal is important, but the enforcement still looks soft. At the same time, Apple says it will make macOS more explicit about when AI agents want access to data on a user's Mac. That's a practical move as these systems become more active behind the scenes. And Google is taking a cautious approach with its Gemini 4 Argon model, giving access to selected cybersecurity partners instead of
