The final girl is the one who makes it out alive—but does that make her a feminist icon?

Grab your popcorn (and maybe a weapon) as Lucero and Ixchel kick off Bitch Up’s Halloween series with a fun, sharp look at horror’s most famous survivor.

From Laurie Strode to Grace, Pearl, and Maxine, they track how the final girl has gone from “be careful and stay pure” to “actually, I have a plan—and possibly a chainsaw.” Along the way, they unpack the male gaze, female rage, class, sexuality, and what it means to survive a slasher on your own terms.

So… is being a final girl feminist? The answer gets messier—and way more interesting—than just making it to the credits.
