Lube Is Not a Treatment Plan: Vaginal Estrogen, DHEA, Peptides & What Your Doctor Should Be Prescribing with Dr. Corinne Menn (Part 2) #75
Description
One of the most trusted OB/GYNs (who’s also a breast cancer survivor!) breaks down vaginal estrogen products, peptide safety, GLP-1s, supplement stacks, and why your DEXA scan matters more than you think.
There is no shortage of products promising to help women feel better through menopause — vaginal estrogen, DHEA, testosterone, peptide stacks, GLP-1s, supplements by the fistful.
But here's the question nobody is asking loudly enough: what actually has the science behind it, and what's just noise?
In Part 2 of my conversation with Dr. Corinne Menn, we go deep on the specific vaginal hormone products that are out there — Vagifem, estrogen rings, creams, Intrarosa — and I finally get clarity on which women need what, why one option isn't always enough, and the little application trick that completely changed the game for me.
Then we go somewhere most podcasts won't: peptide stacks, GLP-1s for cancer survivors, and the uncomfortable truth about how many women are spending hundreds on supplements they can't even explain. Dr. Menn draws a line I think every woman needs to hear — between well-studied treatments and unregulated compounds with zero long-term human safety data.
And underneath all of it is a message that hits home for me personally: you cannot out-supplement (or inject or biohack) a bad foundation. Your muscles, your bones, your protein intake, your strength training — that's the real longevity plan. Everything else is just a tool in the toolbox.
In this episode, you will learn:
- Why vaginal estrogen is not a one-size-fits-all solution — and how to work with your clinician to adjust if your first approach isn't enough
- The difference between Vagifem (estradiol insert), vaginal estrogen cream, and the estrogen ring — and which women benefit from combining more than one
- What vaginal DHEA (Intrarosa) is, how it converts to estradiol AND testosterone inside the cells, and the application trick Dr. Menn teaches her patients
- The estriol myth: why one common recommendation to use estriol externally isn't actually supported by US evidence
- Why local vaginal estrogen does NOT require progesterone for uterine protection — and when progesterone IS non-negotiable
- Where low-dose local testosterone fits for women with severe vaginal atrophy, especially those on aromatase inhibitors
- The peptide truth bomb: Dr. Menn's blunt assessment about long-term human safety data and popular peptide stacks — "full stop"
- Why growth-promoting peptides deserve extra caution for anyone with a cancer history — including reports of skin tumors from tanning peptides
- How GLP-1 medications may help certain cancer survivors — but why they come with a serious asterisk around muscle mass, bone density, and nutritional quality
- Why your DEXA scan is a better investment than a peptide stack — and why waiting until 65 to check your bone density is "absurd"
