Description
Ginita is an Ecuadorian-Honduran-American composer, trombonist and vocalist. Her music combines straight-ahead jazz, latin-jazz, and popular Latin American music. She has performed with, arranged, and composed for Classical Chamber groups, Jazz Big Bands and Salsa Bands. She’s worked with The Roy Hargrove Big Band, The Rufus Reid Big Band, and The Dee Dee Bridgewater Big Band among others. She played in the Broadway production of Huey Lewis’ “The Heart of Rock and Roll.” She is also the founder and musical director of “La Orquesta Esa,” her latin-jazz Big Band. They play her music as well as her arrangements of music by artists like Tito Puente, Willie Colon, Celia Cruz, and Eddie Palmieri. She also has contributed music to Jazz at Lincoln Center among others.
