Friday 2nd October - Madchester & The Smiths

Published 1 week ago
Description

Hello there,

This week, JC heads back to Manchester for two hours of attitude, melody and unmistakable northern swagger.

Hour One dives into the Madchester era and the wider Factory Records story — a soundtrack of indie, dance, post-punk and euphoric guitars from the city that helped reshape British music. Expect the spirit of the Haçienda, some classic Manchester anthems, and a few tracks that connect the dots between post-punk, Britpop and everything in between.

Then in Hour Two, the spotlight turns firmly onto The Smiths and Morrissey. From sharp wit and jangling guitars to some of the most instantly recognisable songs of the 1980s, JC works through a set packed with favourites including Ask, Girlfriend in a Coma, William, It Was Really Nothing, Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now, Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want and Morrissey’s First of the Gang to Die.

And of course I end with the anthem There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.

Two hours. One city. Plenty of glorious melancholy.

Manchester takes over the studio.

Please Enjoy
