标题：No one is falling for Trump's budget busting 'dividend' check gimmick

The president's message at the Republican midterm convention underscores why so many Americans who care about fiscal sanity feel politically homeless.

正文：Socialism will not be stopped with more socialism. President Donald Trump's proposal to pay every adult citizen $5,000 if the GOP holds the House and Senate this fall is a desperate gimmick that betrays a profound lack of seriousness about the looming fiscal crisis. "If the Republicans win, you win with us, and you get $5,000," Trump said Wednesday night at the party's midterm convention in Dallas. He dubbed the payout the "Trump Dividend" and said recipients would have to spend the money inside the United States — but offered no details on how, or whether, Congress would even be asked to authorize it.

知识点：socialism /ˈsəʊʃəlɪzəm/ n. 英文释义：socialism is a political and economic system in which the government plays a large role in owning or regulating the economy and redistributing wealth 本义为"以社会整体而非个人为本位的制度主张"，美国国内政治标签语境核心义为特指美国政治光谱最左端的一套主张（本文特指：后文出现的
The mayor rejected the label, saying his housing plan was practical rather than ideological.
Critics argue that broad cash handouts blur the line both parties claim to defend.
