Back to EpisodesThe Quarter Ended. The Weight Didn't.
Description
"I'll sort it when things calm down."
It sounds reasonable because, each time, it is. A deal needs closing. The quarter needs finishing. A trip has to happen first. Judged on its own, every delay is defensible.
That's the problem. You never made one decision. You made a dozen reasonable ones, each with a different reason and the same answer. Three weeks became three months. Three months became a year you never agreed to lose.
The quarter ended. The weight didn't.
This is for the founder, CEO, or operator who has been running a temporary version of himself for years. He was leaner and stronger once. Training gets moved first whenever something else needs him. He still believes he's the man who will get back in shape, because the date keeps moving and the intention never does.
Your life has never calmed down. Five years ago the pressure had a different name. Next year it will have another.
You can move a meeting. You can renegotiate a deadline. Your body doesn't negotiate with the story. It adapts to what keeps happening.
So which version is temporary: the one carrying the extra fifteen pounds, or the one you keep saying you're going back to?
And if things never calm down, who decides?
