Just Because You Can Should You

Just Because You Can Should You

Description
Christian freedom is a wonderful thing—but freedom without wisdom can become a trap.

In 1 Corinthians 6:12, Paul makes a powerful statement: “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient.” He goes on to say, “I will not be brought under the power of any.”

That challenges the way we think about our choices. Just because something isn’t specifically forbidden doesn’t automatically mean it’s beneficial. And just because we have the freedom to do something doesn’t mean that thing should have a place of control in our lives.

Following up on our previous discussion, today we’re going to look at the difference between permission and wisdom, freedom and bondage, and having something versus being controlled by something.

The question isn’t merely, “Is it allowed?”

The question is, “Is it helping me become more like Christ?”
