Is It Foolish to Go First? — The Fool | Astrology Ride of the Day

Published 4 hours ago
Description

Card zero. The first card in the deck is named the Fool. So is it foolish to be the first one to volunteer? Paul, Rafiki and Guardian open the Fool with a question about going first. Nobody wants the first generation of a new product before the kinks get worked out, and nobody wants to be the first to test the bungee cord. Rafiki lays out the keywords. Upright, the Fool is new beginnings, innocence, a clear conscience, the wanderer, the spontaneous leap. Reversed, it turns to vanity, naivete, being taken advantage of, and recklessness. Then Paul the astrologer connects the deck to the sky. The Fool carries Uranus energy, and the very next card, the Magician, carries Mercury. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, so the deck opens with the higher octave and follows with the lower. Guardian sums it up: do first, think later. Uranus shocks, and Mercury makes you think and talk about it. Rafiki's reminder: you can't have astrology without tarot. Know thyself. Balance your energy.

Takeaways

  1. The Fool is card zero, ruled by air and Uranus. It's the leap before the plan.
  2. Being first can be foolish or brave. Waiting for the second generation is wisdom, but somebody has to test the bungee cord.
  3. Upright, the Fool is new beginnings, innocence and taking a chance. Reversed, it's naivete, vanity, recklessness and being taken advantage of.
  4. The deck opens with Uranus (the Fool) and follows with its lower octave, Mercury (the Magician): shock first, then thought. Tarot and astrology tell the same story.
