Google Ships Gemini 4 Argon First to Cyber Defenders

Published 1 week, 1 day ago
Description
Google DeepMind announced Gemini 4 Argon, rolling out first to trusted cyber defenders via the Fairwind Program (and Google internal teams) in a version without cyber guardrails for full defensive use. Wider paid API, AI Ultra, developer, enterprise, and consumer access follows after Google strengthens safeguards and while it participates in the U.S. voluntary pre-release model-access process. Argon targets long-horizon reasoning for software engineering, enterprise knowledge work, and cybersecurity defense; Google claims lead or tie on 14 of 19 published benchmarks versus GPT-6 Astra, Claude Fable 5.1, and Claude Opus 5.5, with a 1M-token output limit and introductory API pricing of $2/$10 per million input/output tokens. The launch comes days after Sundar Pichai signed the White House Accord on Super Intelligence.
