Episode Details

South Carolina football is back at Williams-Brice Stadium for a massive SEC matchup against Kentucky, and the Gamecocks desperately need a win.

On today’s episode of Locked On Gamecocks, Chris Marler breaks down his 3 keys to South Carolina beating Kentucky and getting Shane Beamer’s team back on track after a brutal stretch against Mississippi State and Alabama.

Kentucky enters Columbia with an efficient offense led by quarterback Kenny Minchey, but the numbers reveal some areas South Carolina’s defense can attack. We break down Kentucky’s heavy reliance on screens and short passes, why tackling in space could determine the game, and what Clayton White’s defense must do to slow down the Wildcats’ rushing attack.

Then, we turn to the Gamecocks offense. Can LaNorris Sellers and South Carolina establish the run, stay on the field on third down and finally start imposing their will offensively? Kentucky has struggled on both sides of the ball on third down, giving South Carolina a major opportunity to take control of this matchup.

Plus, Chris discusses the growing pressure surrounding Shane Beamer, his fiery press conference, the Dylan Stewart situation and why Saturday could tell us a lot about where this South Carolina football season — and potentially the program itself — is headed.
