Description
Auburn football has a Byrum Brown question that needs an answer: Is Auburn getting enough out of one of the most dynamic running quarterbacks in college football?
Alex Golesh was asked directly about using Byrum Brown more intentionally in the quarterback run game, and his answer makes it clear that Auburn is walking a fine line. Brown has the ability to create explosive plays with his legs, but Auburn also has to keep its starting quarterback healthy for an entire SEC season. The bigger issue is that Brown is already getting plenty of rushing attempts. The production simply has not consistently matched the workload.
Through four games, Brown has 62 rushing attempts for 237 yards, an average of 3.8 yards per carry, according to the numbers discussed in this episode. For a quarterback with Brown’s athletic ability, that production leaves plenty of room for improvement.
But this is bigger than the quarterback.
