As the KISS-World Turns: Ranking Our Top 5 KISS Live Albums
You wanted the best...but which KISS live albums actually ARE the best?
On this edition of Hooligan Nation: A KISS-Centric Podcast — As the KISS-World Turns, Anthony, Father Rocco, Black Diamond Dave and DD-Deb dive into one of the most important parts of the entire KISS catalog:
THE LIVE ALBUMS!
For KISS, the live album isn't just another entry in the discography.
It's part of the band's DNA.
In 1975, KISS ALIVE! helped transform KISS from a struggling touring band into one of the biggest acts in rock. From there came Alive II, Alive III, KISS Unplugged, You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best!!, KISS Symphony: Alive IV, Alive! The Millennium Concert, the Off the Soundboard series and numerous archival concert releases.
But which ones are actually the BEST?
This week, each Hooligan has been given one mission:
🔥 Pick your TOP 5 KISS LIVE ALBUMS!
And knowing Anthony, Father Rocco, Black Diamond Dave and DD-Deb...
There is absolutely NO WAY we're all going to agree.
We're talking classic-era KISS.
We're talking makeup and non-makeup KISS.
We're talking the original lineup, different eras, different setlists, different production styles and some live releases that may be a whole lot more controversial than others.
We'll discuss what makes a great KISS live album, which releases best capture the excitement of seeing KISS in concert and which albums we find ourselves going back to again and again.
And then everybody reveals their individual TOP 5!
Will the legendary ALIVE! automatically take the top spot?
Does Alive II capture KISS at the absolute height of KISSmania?
Does Alive III deserve more respect?
Should KISS Unplugged be considered alongside the traditional electric live albums?
Where do releases such as KISS Symphony: Alive IV and the Off the Soundboard series belong?
And could somebody actually leave one of the legendary Alive! albums completely OUT of their Top 5?
Nothing is guaranteed when the Hooligans start making lists!
