Episode Details

Minnesota Wild face a daunting season opener as Brock Faber lands on injured reserve with a fractured skull. Could this set the stage for a worst-case scenario in St. Paul? Seth Toupal examines how Faber’s absence shakes up the defensive core, increasing pressure on Quinn Hughes, Jared Spurgeon, and Jonas Brodin—players already battling extensive injury histories. With unproven options like Maxim Shabanov and Bobby Brink stepping into critical roles, can the Wild’s top line shoulder the offensive load?

Central Division rivals are gaining ground, with retooled threats from Chicago, Utah, and St. Louis making every win count. Seth breaks down concerning stats: lackluster production from veterans like Michael McCarron and Yakov Trenin, and ongoing special teams woes despite multiple scheme changes. As the Wild enter a grueling road-heavy start, will Bill Guerin’s trade ambitions provide relief—or leave Minnesota scrambling for playoff security?
