The New Technology Frontier: Quantum, AI, & National Security

Season 2 Episode 286 Published 1 week, 4 days ago
Description
Quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity are reshaping the legal and regulatory landscape faster than most practitioners can track, and this session offers a grounded briefing on where each is heading. The program opens with a look at quantum technology and the approaching reality of cryptographically relevant quantum computers, led by Sanjeev Bhasker and Corey Bieber, partners and leaders in K&L Gates’ Quantum industry group. The discussion then turns to the latest developments in artificial intelligence and what they mean for the practice of law and for clients in high-technology and regulated sectors. Sanjeev Bhasker, a former White House cyber attorney who served as Acting General Counsel of the Office of the National Cyber Director across both the Biden and Trump administrations, joins his K&L Gates colleague Coey Bieber, a data protection and emerging technologies practitioner, to close the discussion with the cybersecurity, sanctions, and CFIUS considerations that increasingly shape cross-border transactions and national security review. Attendees will leave with a clearer picture of how these emerging and converging technologies are influencing law, policy, and risk, and what to watch as the government’s posture continues to evolve.
