Miami took 13 players from the transfer portal this offseason. Four games in, one of them is the highest-graded quarterback in college football, and two of them never played a single snap. Here's every one of them: where he came from, how much he's actually playing, and what the stats and PFF grades say. Darian Mensah is 94 of 106. That's 88.7%, for 1,211 yards, 14 touchdowns and zero interceptions. At Duke last year he completed 66.8%. Among quarterbacks with at least 80 dropbacks, PFF has him No. 1 in the country in passing grade, with nine big-time throws and zero turnover-worthy plays. Cooper Barkate's stat line looks quiet. It isn't. He's run 95 routes to Malachi Toney's 103, which is nearly the same workload, but Toney has 37 targets and Barkate has 15. Barkate has caught 14 of those 15 with zero drops. Damon Wilson II is two different players. His PFF pass-rush grade is 78.1 and his run-defense grade is 47.0. Seven of his nine pressures came at Wake Forest, the one real game Miami has played. His run defense is the thing to watch at Clemson. And two are already gone. Cam Vaughn was dismissed during fall camp, and Conrad Hussey left the program in June. 📋 ALL 13, BY TIER TIER 1 — FRANCHISE ▪ Darian Mensah — QB — from Duke — 94/106, 1,211 yds, 14 TD, 0 INT · No. 1 PFF passing grade (93.9) TIER 2 — REGULARS ▪ Omar Thornton — S/Nickel — from Boston College — 161 snaps (4th on D), 13 tackles, 1 sack, 8 pressures as a blitzer ▪ Damon Wilson II — EDGE — from Missouri — 1 sack, 9 pressures · 78.1 pass-rush grade, 47.0 run-defense grade ▪ Cooper Barkate — WR — from Duke — 14 catches, 143 yds, 3 TD · 14 of 15 targets caught, 0 drops ▪ Jake Weinberg — K — from Florida State — 21/21 XP, 3/4 FG, long of 46 · won the kicking job TIER 3 — ROTATION ▪ Keona Davis — DL — from Nebraska — 70.4 PFF grade, highest of Miami's four most-used interior linemen ▪ Jarquez Carter — DL — from Ohio State — 61 snaps, already more than his 51 as a freshman at Ohio State ▪ Vandrevius Jacobs — WR — from South Carolina — 5 catches, 81 yds, 1 TD · 16.3-yard average target depth, the deep threat TIER 4 — DEPTH ▪ Jamal Meriweather — OT — from Georgia — 65 snaps, swing tackle + field-goal unit ▪ Johnathan Cline — OL — from East Tennessee State — 13 snaps vs. FAMU ▪ Jack Olsen — K — from Northwestern — 2/2 XP · went 19 of 21 on field goals last season and still lost the job GONE BEFORE KICKOFF ▪ Cam Vaughn — WR — from West Virginia — dismissed during fall camp ▪ Conrad Hussey — S — from Oregon State — left the program in June (per the Miami Herald) The Echevarria Law Firm — proud title sponsor of Canes Pulse.
