A new California law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom will require most prospective gun buyers to complete a firearms safety course before purchasing a gun. The requirement is set to take effect in 2027. Gun-rights groups argue the requirement creates an additional barrier for law-abiding citizens. 

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a new law banning the sale of single-use, battery-powered nicotine vapes in California to address litter, pollution, and battery-fire risks. The law applies to tobacco/nicotine disposable vapes, but does not include cannabis vape devices.
