This edition of The Neil Haley Show opens with comedian and actor Bill Bellamy, who reflected on how MTV launched him into the middle of 1990s pop culture and gave him the platform that led to comedy and film. Interviewing everyone from Madonna and Janet Jackson to Whitney Houston and Boyz II Men, he said, was a fantastic education, and he credited MTV with making his career work. Bellamy turned to his new film The Bounce Back, opening December 9th, in which he plays Terry Jackson, the manager and agent to Shemar Moore's character, a newly divorced author whose book about recovering from heartbreak turns him into a celebrated relationship guru even though he has no relationship of his own. Promising eighteen laughs per second, Bellamy pitched the movie as a warm holiday escape about love, second chances, and the way real connection tends to creep up when you least expect it, and he hoped audiences would leave hopeful about finding love in their own lives.
Neil then welcomed author Mitchell J. Mueck to discuss his memoir The Story. Mueck, who recently turned seventy and moved to Goshen, New York, explained that after a lifetime of people telling him he had too many stories to let disappear, a quiet winter finally gave him the time to write. He shared a remarkably resilient life: one of six children raised by a single mother who supported the family playing cards, he left home at thirteen, lied about his age to become a foreman at seventeen in a Death Valley open-pit mine, married at nineteen and lost his first wife to cancer six months later, and later lost his second wife to cancer as well after twenty-two years together. Contracting polio at three and told he would never walk without a brace, he instead kept getting back up, and he framed resilience as the true engine of a meaningful life. Mueck spoke movingly about how every choice weaves into the lives of others like threads in a tapestry, and about honoring his late wives and his hardworking mother by keeping their stories alive. Neil, who related deeply as a fellow entrepreneur, urged him toward a second book covering his decades building concrete, trucking, and framing companies across several states.
The program continues with a Storehouse Media Group simulcast featuring LinkedIn visibility strategist Jaimie Skultety of UpscaleYourBusiness.com. After losing her corporate role in the 2008-2009 downturn, Skultety built a virtual assistant business and eventually found her calling helping coaches, consultants, and fractional executives get visible on LinkedIn. She and Neil agreed the platform's real power lies in genuine relationship-building through direct messages, never a hard sell out of the gate, and in growing a focused, well-defined audience rather than connecting with everyone. She stressed profiles that speak to an ideal client instead of reading like a resume, the value of inviting people to your profile rather than waiting for them to land there, and the newsletter as a standout tool that lands directly in subscribers' inboxes and positions the author as a thought leader. She creates what she calls an authority playbook for each client.
The show closes with a GildaGram simulcast featuring Dr. Gilda Carle, who pushed back on the sweeping claim that women alone are responsible for family tragedies. Responding to a heartbreaking news story out of Australia in which a separated father with documented emotional struggles took the lives of his young children and then his own, Dr. Gilda cautioned against the double standard in how these cases are discussed and raised hard questions about how warning signs are recognized and acted upon. She handled the painful subject with care and gravity, urging listeners toward compassion and vigilance rather than blame. Find Mitchell J. Mueck's The Story wherever books are sold.
