"I'm Not That Far Off." Based on What?

Episode 138 Published 2 weeks, 2 days ago
Description

"I'm not that far off." Based on what?

Most men who need to lose weight carry a number. Twenty pounds. Sometimes thirty. It's nearly always round, and it's nearly always an estimate that hardened into a fact. Add eight weeks and the plan feels finished.

Marwan Killu did exactly that. Twenty pounds, eight weeks, nothing measured behind either. When twenty pounds came off, the mirror said keep going. He finished well over forty pounds down and more than five months in, at the place he'd assumed he was standing next to.

The belief holds up because parts of it are true. You've trained for years. The muscle is still there. You could probably get back quickly. But how fast you can return and how far you've gone are two different questions, and most men answer the first while claiming the second.

This is for the founder, CEO or executive who would never accept an unchecked number in his business, and has accepted one about his own body for years. Fitness after 40. Executive fitness. Standards. The distance between the man in the old photograph and the man in the mirror.

The number hasn't moved. The body has.
