Episode Details

The late 20th century, a time of profound shift. Across Mexico, the old lines hummed with the weight of monopoly, a static silence broken only by the promise of a future unseen. A new era of connection was dawning, not through buried cables, but carried on invisible waves, poised to redefine communication itself.Imagine Mexico in the twilight of the 1980s. The air was thick with the scent of change, a national tide of deregulation and privatization sweeping through the economy. The telecommunications landscape was a relic, dominated by Teléfonos de México, a state-owned leviathan whose aging infrastructure groaned under the weight of inefficiency. Phone lines were a luxury, a symbol of status, with penetration rates shockingly low, especially beyond the bustling cityscapes and into the vast, underserved rural areas. This wasn't just about selling off assets; it was a bold gamble, a desperate plea for modernization, seeking to pull a nation tethered to the past into the digital future, a future that hummed with unseen possibilities.Aurelius and Malik take on this case in full — 5 chapters, 35 minutes, one complete story.Learn more at: https://theoriginarchive.com/origin/america-movil
