Victorian doctors strike for first time in 50 years
Published 1 week ago
Description
Victorian public hospital doctors are striking for four hours on Thursday afternoon, marking their first industrial action in 50 years. The doctors are demanding a 30% pay rise over four years, limits on shift lengths and consecutive night shifts, and paid overtime after 14 months of negotiations with the government have produced no offers. Critical care areas including emergency departments, intensive care units and neonatal intensive care units will remain staffed during the strike.
