Description
Today's biggest winners and losers in the stock market, a look at the notable movers:
On this episode of Stock Movers:
- Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) agreed to acquire World Labs for $8.2 billion, gaining an artificial intelligence startup founded by industry pioneer and researcher Fei-Fei Li. The acquisition is expected to help AMD plan its future hardware releases by adding a team of leading researchers and their models, along with insights into how the artificial intelligence field is evolving. World Labs develops AI software that can run applications in the physical world, and the deal will also help bolster AMD's offerings by allowing it to provide a variety of AI models to customers.
- Vail Resorts (MTN) shares are down 1.5% in extended trading, as the midpoint of both the resort operator’s net income and total reported Ebitda forecasts for 2027 fell short of consensus. The company also said pass product units sold through Sept. 18 for the upcoming North American ski season decreased approximately 12% compared to the prior-year period through Sept. 19, 2025.
- Jefferies Financial Group (JEF) stock traders set a quarterly revenue record, fueling better-than-expected profit. Fiscal third-quarter equity-trading revenue surged 29% from a year earlier to $626 million, and the investment-banking business hit a record with revenue rising 17% to $1.3 billion. Earnings per share totaled $1.08 in the three months through August, surpassing the $1 average estimate of analysts in a Bloomberg survey
