Hey gang, it's been a minute. There's some big updates here in Grief Gang world, with the most relevant here being that the podcast is going to bed for a little while. I speak to this in the intro and how I'll do a fuller update in an episode about this, but today's episode isn't about that. As I come to drawing the podcast to a close, I am working my way through the small backlog of episodes recorded over the past couple of years. And today's episode is with my mate, Poppy Chancellor, who died 3 years ago this September 29th 2026. I'll let the below text say the rest, it's the exact copy draft I wrote for it when it originally was meant for release, which was 1 week after she died. It's a pretty gorgeous conversation, and I'm so glad that I have it. Thank you for listening.
"This weeks episode is a tough one as it's very close to home. For those of you who have listened to the show for years and follow TGG on social media, will be familiar with Poppy's voice and our friendship. You might have seen a few months ago, us share about Poppy's diagnosis in the Spring with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
From the beginning of diagnosis, Poppy and I made a vow to try and document what we can throughout this journey. For Poppy to look back on and for me as her friend to bare witness to all she is enduring. It's what we've been doing for years through our respective work, so it felt most comfortable that this is how we'd navigate this part of our friendship and change.
In this episode, Poppy shares with us at the point of recording, what the previous 3 months had been like. Living with the grief of this diagnosis and what it means for her body and future. We discuss things from my perspective watching someone you love endure this and some things that Poppy has found helpful that you might benefit from. Of course, we answer some questions from you Grief Gang listeners!
Poppy and I appreciate the adoring love you have outpoured for her. At the time of release, Pops is in a tricky spot with her treatment but she will get there. She is healed.
