Mars in Leo — Tower or Strength? Sept 27 to Nov 25 | Astrology Ride of the Day
Description
Mars leaves Cancer, where he ran silent like a submarine, and pulls into Leo like an aircraft carrier in daylight, staying about sixty days in the Sun's own house, from September 27th to November 25th. The tarot puts two cards in this room, the Tower and Strength, so the sixty days ask whether the same fire ends in collapse or in mastery. Mars moves through the 5, 6, and 7 of Wands. He first has to get past Saturn's decan and Pluto at the gate, then is recognized as Venus finally cooperates and he closes in on Jupiter. In the last act he holds his own ground while the Sun tests him. The question underneath it all is whether you can compete, be recognized, and hold what you've won. Know thyself. Balance your energy.
Takeaways
- Mars in Leo runs September 27th to November 25th, about sixty days. That's near his normal stay in a sign, and it's a length of time that either breaks or makes something, like the forty-day trials in the old stories.
- The two tarot cards in this room are the Tower (Mars: sudden collapse of a false sense of self) and Strength (Leo: the muzzled lion, power directed instead of unleashed). It's the same fire with two possible endings.
- Act One, the 5 of Wands in Saturn's decan, runs through October 15th. Mars meets Pluto retrograde at 3° Aquarius on October 3rd. Pluto is a gatekeeper who won't move, so Mars has to prove he can get past him.
- Act Two, the 6 of Wands in Jupiter's decan, runs October 15th to November 3rd. Saturn hands Mars a trine on October 16th, and Venus shifts from squaring him in Scorpio to sextiling him from her home in Libra. Six is the number of union, and this is the recognition act.
- Act Three, the 7 of Wands in Mars's own decan, runs November 3rd to November 25th. He claims his own bounds at 24° Leo and catches Jupiter on November 14th, opposite the North Node. That puts individual sovereignty against the pull of the collective.
- On November 18th, Mars and Jupiter both square the Sun in Scorpio. The ruler of Leo tests what Mars has built, but he does it as a guest in Mars's own sign. The ego either holds up under inspection or the Tower comes down.
- On November 25th Mars enters Virgo, and the question changes from "can you hold it" to "what are you going to do with it now that you've got it."
