A Rugby Star Shot Dead in Paris: The Final Verdict in the FEDERICO ARAMBURU Case
Description
Former Argentina rugby international Federico Martín Aramburu was visiting Paris in March 2022 when an argument inside a bar turned deadly. After Aramburu and his friend left, far-right activists Loïk Le Priol and Romain Bouvier encountered them again on Boulevard Saint-Germain. Gunfire followed, and the 42-year-old former rugby star was killed.
More than four years later, the case finally reached a Paris courtroom. Le Priol admitted firing the fatal shots but claimed he had acted in self-defense, while prosecutors argued that the violence was deliberate. On September 25, 2026, the court convicted Le Priol of murder and sentenced him to 26 years in prison. Bouvier was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to 19 years.
The case became one of France's most closely watched trials involving violent far-right activists.
