Auburn football got the win over Vanderbilt, but now the Tigers have to take their show on the road against Tennessee, and this matchup is going to demand a much better performance on both sides of the football.

The first challenge is Tennessee true freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon. Tennessee officially lists Brandon at 6 foot 4 and 225 pounds, and he brings enough mobility to punish a defense that loses contain. For DJ Durkin and the Auburn defense, the strategy should be pretty straightforward: slow down Tennessee’s running game, put Brandon into obvious passing situations and make the freshman quarterback prove he can consistently beat Auburn with his arm.

That also means Auburn has to clean up the missed tackles and stop allowing third down plays to turn into manageable fourth downs. Vanderbilt converted four of five fourth down attempts according to the discussion, and that type of defensive performance becomes dangerous on the road at Neyland Stadium.
