Sometimes people are so good to us that we are bound and determined to be good to them.
Rahab risked her life to save the lives of the spies. She then asked them to “swear to me by the Lord that you in turn will deal kindly (ḥesed חֶסֶד) with my family” — from Joshua 2:12.
And they did.
The love they received asked them to respond in kind.
