SmackDown finally got this right. WWE delivered a strong night of wrestling with major Money in the Bank implications, a brutal steel cage match, Randy Orton putting Cody Rhodes on the spot, and several storylines taking important steps forward. In this WWE SmackDown review, I break down everything that happened on the September 25, 2026 episode and give my honest reaction to the entire show. Trick Williams and Baron Corbin went to war inside a steel cage, while Trick continued to establish himself as one of the biggest players on SmackDown. Randy Orton also delivered one of the most interesting segments of the night when he confronted Michael Cole with a simple question about Cody Rhodes. Does Cody actually have what it takes to cross the line when the situation demands it? Cody responded later in the night, adding another layer to their increasingly personal rivalry. Money in the Bank qualifying continued with CM Punk, Finn Bálor and Gunther battling in a huge triple-threat match. Punk found a way to qualify, but the finish—and what happened between Punk and Bálor afterward—could become important as WWE gets closer to Money in the Bank. On the women’s side, Lash Legend faced Charlotte Flair and Giulia in another Money in the Bank qualifier. Lash picked up a massive victory, while Giulia’s frustration continued and immediately led to another confrontation. Plus, Sami Zayn continues to call himself the “last real good guy,” Johnny Gargano remains connected to Sami’s increasingly complicated story, Damian Priest continues down a darker path, and even Danhausen found himself face-to-face with Gunther. Was SmackDown perfect? No. But this was a solid episode with good wrestling, meaningful storyline progression and enough happening across the show to make next week worth watching.
