Description
NFL Week 3 is here—and Jo Madden says betting the right team isn't enough. You need the right number.
On this episode of Madden On The Line, Jo Madden, Vice President of Sports Gaming Media at CrossCheck Media Inc., breaks down the Week 3 NFL betting board after a week of significant line movement. Some of the numbers Jo targeted earlier in the week have disappeared, others have improved—and several games now look completely different from when the opening lines were posted.
The show starts with Thursday Night Football and Atlanta vs. Green Bay, where the Falcons moved from roughly +7 to +4.5. Jo explains why she loved Atlanta at +7, still liked +5.5, but isn't interested in blindly chasing +4.5. Instead, she lays out a potential live-betting strategy designed to get a better Falcons number if Green Bay scores first.
Then it's into the player-prop market. Jo breaks down Michael Penix Jr., Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, Jordan Love and Tucker Kraft, including why she sees potential opportunities through the passing game rather than relying heavily on rushing production. She also reveals how she constructs player-prop ladders without putting multiple full units at risk on the same player.
From there, Jo attacks the rest of the Week 3 board. Kansas City has climbed to a double-digit road favorite against Miami, but rather than chase the Chiefs, Jo is watching for an even bigger number on the Dolphins. Jacksonville gets a potential bounce-back opportunity against New England, while Cleveland's move through the key number of three provides a perfect example of why half a point can completely change a wager.
Jo also tackles the Chargers' brutal 0-2 start, whether Los Angeles can stay within the number against Buffalo, and an alternative Bills team-total angle for bettors who don't want to trust the Chargers.
And with Detroit sitting below the key number of seven against the Jets, Jo explains why that may be one number bettors shouldn't wait on.
The overriding lesson for Week 3 is simple:
Don't bet the logo. Don't chase yesterday's number. Bet the number in front of you.
With 16 NFL games available, Jo's other message may be even more important: you don't need 16 bets. Sometimes the best bet is one word—WAIT.
