Back to EpisodesAffairs, Lies & Murder Trials — Caleb Flynn and Matthew Konen
Description
Two very different murder trials now have one striking thing in common: prosecutors are pointing to secret affairs as part of the story behind the alleged crimes.
In Ohio, the Caleb Flynn murder trial continues after jurors heard nearly two days of testimony from his former mistress, Alleigha Botner, including portions of approximately 107,000 messages exchanged during their affair. The jury also heard AI-generated love songs Flynn allegedly created for Botner as prosecutors try to connect the relationship, Flynn's statements and the timeline to the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn.
In Tennessee, former paramedic Matthew Konen is standing trial for the murders of his wife, Rachel Konen, and her father, David Rodgers. Prosecutors say Konen was having an affair while his marriage was ending and point to financial pressures, a 911 call and gunshot residue as part of their case. Konen's defense says Rodgers actually shot his own daughter and that Konen attacked him only after Rodgers allegedly turned the gun on him.
