Ep.59 My Random Rambling Reflections

Season 1 Episode 59 Published 20 hours ago
Description

In this 59th episode of Faith & Feels, I share "My Random Rambling Reflections" on what has been happening in my life, my work, and the things that have been weighing on my heart lately.

I start by sharing about finally launching the YouTube channel I said I was going to start this year—and actually doing it! I then talk about a recent client case that has deeply grieved my heart while also reigniting my passion for speaking up about sex and porn addiction. I reflect on the deep and complex childhood trauma that can exist underneath addictive sexual behaviors and why so many people need support to heal the wounds that have never been addressed.

I also share my heartfelt plea to parents to have honest, age-appropriate conversations with their children about sex, pornography, and the digital world. I feel a deep burden for young children who are being exposed to pornography and other digital harms before they are emotionally or developmentally prepared to process them. I talk about why children need safe adults they can turn to, and why creating an open line of communication with our kids matters so much.

I also get a little more personal and share what I've been learning about self-care as a therapist and as someone who is constantly pouring into others. I talk honestly about my own struggle with imposter syndrome and the humbling journey of learning to recognize the impact I can have, even when I don't always feel confident in myself. Seeing clients experience breakthroughs and make progress in their recovery has brought me so much gratitude for the work I get to do and continues to propel me forward.

I share about a deeply encouraging prayer I received recently at PIHOP and how it reminded me that I also need to slow down, receive, and care for my own soul—not just continually pour out to others.

I close the episode with Isaiah 61:1–4, a passage that has been deeply meaningful to me. Its call to heal the brokenhearted, rebuild ancient ruins, and restore what has been devastated across generations feels closely connected to the heart behind my work, my ministry, and why I continue to speak about these difficult topics.

This episode is a little more personal, reflective, and unfiltered—and ultimately a reminder to slow down, take care of ourselves, and remember that healing and restoration can happen one person, one family, and one generation at a time.
