Description
Mad science, interdimensional monsters, and a perfectly mannered child with a murderous secret come together in this episode of The Ghostly Gallery.
First, we enter the strange world of Stuart Gordon’s From Beyond (1986), a science-fiction body horror movie inspired by H.P. Lovecraft. We talk about the Resonator, the wild practical effects, and performances from Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Ken Foree, and Ted Sorel.
Then we turn back to The Bad Seed (1956), the disturbing story of an eight-year-old girl whose sweet appearance hides something much darker. We look at Rhoda’s cold and calculating behavior, the performances, and an ending that caught us completely by surprise.
These movies approach horror in very different ways. One puts it right on the screen with purple light, monsters, and slime, while the other disguises it behind innocence and charm. Join us as we take a closer look at both films and share what we thought.
