Meta Muse Sparks AI Commerce
Let's start with the consumer AI story everyone is watching. Meta's new Muse assistant appears to be off to a very strong start, with early app estimates suggesting it is attracting users faster than ChatGPT did in its comparable launch window in the U.S. and Canada. That enthusiasm fed straight into the market, lifting Meta and helping push AI-linked chip stocks higher, including AMD, which briefly crossed the trillion-dollar mark. But the rollout also shows how messy real-world AI agents can get. Shopify plans to let Muse complete purchases through its checkout tools, while Amazon has reportedly blocked the agent from shopping on its site. And on the security front, Meta had to patch a flaw in the Mac app that could have exposed authentication tokens. So the demand is real, but the rules, safeguards, and retail relationships are still being worked out in public.
