Psalm 76: How To Testify

Episode 1231 Published 1 week ago
Description

A great testimony doesn’t need a microphone, perfect wording, or a shocking backstory. It needs one thing: God at the center. Today we camp out in Psalm 76, a compact worship song that reads like a victory report, and we use it as a blueprint for telling the kind of faith story that actually strengthens the people who hear it.

We talk about the old-school idea of “testimony service,” where anyone could stand up and share what the Lord had done. Sometimes you never knew what you were going to get, but at its best it was pure encouragement. Psalm 76 captures that same spirit. Many scholars connect it to the moment Judah faced the terrifying Assyrian threat during King Hezekiah’s reign. When the enemy mocked God and flexed their power, Hezekiah went low before the Lord and admitted the truth: we can’t do this without You. The psalm answers with confidence, showing God breaking weapons, stilling armies, and rescuing the oppressed.

Then we bring it home with a simple, practical takeaway for everyday Christians: the best way to share your testimony is to make sure God is the subject of the story. If your salvation story sounds like a timeline of what you did, try telling it again with God as the main actor, from the first sentence to the last. Listen, take the challenge, and share what happens. If this helped you, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a five-star review.
