Stock Market Today: The Nasdaq Composite posted another new all-time during intraday on Tuesday, while the S&P 500 was relatively unchanged ahead of U.S. President Trump and Chinese Leader Xi's summit in the U.S. on Wednesday.

Continuing the momentum in the AI-trade on Tuesday were the memory stocks including $WDC +3.67%, $STX +4.85%, $SNDK +6.82%, $SKHY +3.45%, $SIMO +5.3%, and $RMBS +8.54%.

Mag 7 stocks were mixed with Amazon ($AMZN), Google ($GOOG/$GOOGL), Meta Platforms ($META) and Microsoft ($MSFT) trading in the red, while Apple ($AAPL), Nvidia ($NVDA), and Tesla ($TSLA) closed in the green by less than 1% respectively.

Quantum stocks started rising in the after hours session as IonQ ($IONQ) announced a breakthrough that removes a major bottleneck in fault-tolerant quantum computing, enabling real-time error correction across millions of operations without slowing down execution time.

The news comes ahead of the Quantum World Congress 2026, Sept 23-25. Other quantum stocks that saw gains were $INFQ $QNTM $QUBT $QBTS $RGTI $QNT.
