Right Leader, Wrong Arena: Colonel Damon Wells on Leadership and Performance

Episode 83 Published 3 weeks, 5 days ago
Description
Damon Wells Army officer with 30 years leadership and command experience, author of six books, and creator of the Athlete-Arena model My guest today is Damon Wells, a colonel in the U.S. Army with 32 years of service. His job right now is coaching corps and theater-level commands, simulating over 100,000 military personnel per exercise, through the largest and most complex multinational exercises the military runs. He works directly with a few commanding generals at a time. Before his current job, he commanded a 2,000-person artillery organization at Fort Carson, and before that a field artillery battalion. He has written six books on leadership, including Right Leader, Wrong Arena and Close the Loop. His work adds a second variable to how leaders think about their own performance: not just what they bring, but what the environment does to what they bring. Damon, welcome.
