Who Are You Trying to Please? Double-Mindedness, Worldly Desires & Obedience to Jesus

Episode 61 Published 3 weeks ago

Description

Who Are You Trying to Please?

Can you truly follow Jesus while continuing to entertain the things of the world?

In this episode, we’re getting honest about what it means to be in the world but not of it—and why trying to live for Jesus while holding onto worldly desires can leave us double-minded and spiritually divided.

The Bible calls us to an undivided heart, but what happens when we want the things of the world and the things of God? When we know the Holy Spirit is convicting us, but obedience feels uncomfortable? When we say we want to follow Jesus, yet still make room for the very things He’s asking us to surrender?

This conversation goes deeper than simply “avoiding the world.” It’s about surrender, biblical obedience, spiritual conviction, and being willing to follow Jesus even when the Holy Spirit asks us to let go of something we want.

We’ll talk about:

• What it really means to be in the world but not of it • The danger of double-mindedness in the Christian life • Why we cannot live to please the world and simultaneously please God • Recognizing the conviction of the Holy Spirit • The difference between conviction and simply feeling uncomfortable • What obedience to God looks like when it costs us something • Surrendering worldly desires and choosing to follow Jesus • What it means to live set apart for Christ

If you’ve ever felt the tension between wanting Jesus and still wanting what the world offers, this episode is for you.

The question is simple: Who are you trying to please?
