The Green Bay Packers are back in the win column — but it wasn’t pretty.

On Episode #133 of Packers Blitz, John and Andy break down Green Bay’s wild 20–17 overtime victory over the New York Jets, a game that featured a fourth-quarter comeback, outstanding special teams, a strong defensive effort, and an offense that left plenty to be desired.

The Packers erased a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit and snapped a six-game losing streak, but the performance raises a major question: Why does Green Bay continue to play down to its competition?

John and Andy break down everything that went right — and plenty that went wrong — against New York.

THE GOOD: Green Bay’s special teams finally looked special. Skyy Moore provided a huge spark in the return game, while the Packers defense made enough plays to keep the team alive.

THE BAD: The offense struggled badly. Jordan Love finished 18-of-29 for 145 yards and two touchdowns, while Green Bay continued to struggle running the football and protecting its quarterback.

THE DOWNRIGHT UGLY: Penalties. The Packers committed 18 penalties, continuing an alarming early-season trend that John and Andy believe has to be cleaned up immediately.

They also discuss Matt LaFleur’s play calling, Green Bay’s tendency to repeatedly run on first down, offensive-line problems, injuries, and whether the Packers need to become much more aggressive offensively.

There wasn’t much to celebrate offensively, but Lucas Van Ness delivered a monster performance on defense.

Van Ness recorded six pressures, 1.5 sacks, four quarterback hits, 10 tackles, seven solo tackles and three tackles for loss while earning an 81.2 PFF grade.

Then there was Skyy Moore.

Moore exploded on special teams with a 63-yard punt return and 43-yard kickoff return, giving Green Bay the kind of field-position weapon Packers fans have been waiting to see.
