Pirates’ Lefty Problem Strikes Again in 5-1 Loss to Cardinals

Published 4 days, 21 hours ago
Description

The Pittsburgh Pirates’ five-game winning streak came to an end with a 5-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jim and Doug break down another rough night against left-handed pitching, a bullpen game that never quite came together, Khristian Curtis’ latest outing and the continued development of Rafael Flores Jr. They also look ahead to 2027 and discuss whether the Pirates may already have enough starting pitching in place to turn their attention toward fixing the offense this offseason.

The Pirates are now 80-78 with four games remaining. One more win guarantees at least a .500 season, while two more would secure their first winning season since 2018.
