Galesburg is racing toward a 1,000-tree goal by year's end — and Tom Simkins, the city's special projects coordinator, says a Saturday volunteer planting along West Main Street near Route 34 will bring the total to 888. He joined Galesburg's Morning News Tuesday, Sept. 22, to talk trees, volunteers, and a new historic-inspired sign design now debuting at Dale Kelley Park on West Tompkins Street.
