Description
A coronial inquest in Devonport is examining the December 2021 Hillcrest jumping castle tragedy that killed six children and injured three others. The hearing has focused on Tasmania's health system response, with North West Hospital's executive general manager Paula Hyland and forensic pathologist Dr Andrew Reid providing evidence about treatment decisions and causes of death after the jumping castle was launched 16 metres into the air by a freak weather event. Senior Constable Dean Wotherspoon, one of the first emergency responders at Hillcrest Primary School, is testifying about the forensic examination of the scene.
