Bowyer was the illegal bookmaker at the center of the gambling scandal involving Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, who placed hundreds of millions of dollars in wagers through Bowyer’s operation.
When Matt first sat down with Rachel, prison was still ahead of him. Now, more than six months after getting out, he returns to reveal what actually happened behind bars, the violence he witnessed, the realities of life in a federal prison camp, and how difficult it can be to rebuild a life after incarceration.
Matt also opens up about the temptation to return to the world that once made him millions, why people still owe him an astonishing $44 million, and why trying to collect any of it could send him straight back to prison.
