Episode Details

Chicago White Sox's Miguel Vargas emerges as the undeniable team MVP—should the front office lock him into a long-term extension? Host Todd Welter examines Vargas’s rapid ascent from potential bust after the 2024 season to All-Star this year. There should be some debate on the merits of him not being a free agent until 2030 when he will be 31; therefore, it could make more sense to play the arbitration game during his peak performance years, since he is under club control through his age 29 season.

Todd also recaps the Chicago Sun-Times’ All-City team selections, breaking down position battles between stars like Alex Bregman and Munetaka Murakami. He also discusses the Sox’s pitching rotation being set up for this week to clinch a playoff spot but also for next week in the postseason if the club clinches a spot. Can the White Sox clinch a playoff spot and overcome their rotation’s reputation as the weakest in the postseason field?
