Description
Have you ever stopped in the middle of family life and wondered, “Why do we even do it this way?”
Sometimes we have a clear vision for the kind of family we want to build, but when it comes to the actual day-to-day, we default to what we know, what we grew up with, or what we think a “good mom” is supposed to do.
In this episode of Faithful Mama Rising, we’re talking about the family rules, routines, and expectations we may be following without ever really choosing them.
I’m sharing how this showed up for me in homeschooling, the old roast story that perfectly explains inherited habits, and a coaching conversation that reminded me how freeing it can be to realize that some things simply do not have to be done the way we’ve always done them.
We’ll talk about:
- Why familiar does not always mean intentional
- How we can turn preferences into requirements without realizing it
- The difference between protecting the value and clinging to the method
- How to notice the family patterns that may be creating unnecessary frustration
- Why “Is this biblical, or is this just familiar?” can be such an important question
- How to keep the why while getting curious about the how
The goal is not to throw out every routine or tradition in your family. It’s to become more intentional about the culture you are creating and to ask whether the way you are doing things actually supports what matters most.
