You Don’t Have to Homeschool to Disciple Your Kids | S2:Ep35

Episode 92 Published 2 weeks ago
Description

You love your kids. You want them grounded in God’s Word. You want to be intentional about what is shaping their hearts and minds.

But you don’t homeschool.

Maybe you can’t. Maybe you don’t feel called to. Maybe you’ve prayerfully chosen public, private, or Christian school for your family.

Does that mean you’ve somehow handed over your role in discipling your children?

Absolutely not.

In this episode of Truth Over Trends, I’m sitting down with Carrie De Francisco of Coffee With Carrie Homeschool Help to talk about an important distinction:

Education and discipleship are not the same thing.

Carrie is a retired home educator, teacher, author, speaker, podcast host, and homeschool coach with a BS in Education and an MA in Math Education. She’s also a wife, mom of two adult children, mother-in-law, and soon-to-be Mimi.

We’re talking about how Christian parents can remain intentional about discipling their children regardless of where they go to school—how to stay engaged with what they’re learning, navigate cultural influences without parenting from fear, weave faith into ordinary family life, and remember what we can and cannot control as our children grow.

Because homeschooling can be a wonderful educational choice.

But homeschooling isn’t the Gospel. And it isn’t a prerequisite for faithful Christian parenting.

Whether your children learn around your kitchen table or spend their weekdays in a classroom, their greatest need is the same:

They need Christ.

And you still have countless opportunities to faithfully point them toward Him.
